How do i take care of my bonsai tree? is it dead?
so i bought a little very cheap bonsai tree at the LA county fair, somewhere during september or october. i got a bonsai book from the library, and i really didn't learn that much. first of all, im pretty sure my tree is a mame bonsai? like, its really small, and i didn't see a pic of it in the book. and really, i don't know how to care for it truthfully, i barely water it, and im not even sure if its dead. the leaves are green. i scraped the trunk with a key, and it was greenish yellow, which means its alive right? but i haven't done anything to it, like, AT ALL. what am i supposed to do to care for it? any websites on pruning and fertilizing and stuff?

How to water a bonsai tree?
I just received a bonsai tree as a gift, and in the directions it says to water it by " submerge the pot in a sink of water for about 1 2 inch above the brim for 3 5 minutes, 2 3 times a week depending on the pot size." I didn't know if maybe sitting the pot under water would cause the soil to disperse and leave the pot, or what. Has anyone taken care of a bonsai tree before? Any tips for watering? Thank you.

Juniper bonsai tree care help?
My friend got me a Juniper bonsai tree from the mall for Christmas and I need to know how to take of it. I live in CT and I know bonsais need to hibernate during the winter by putting it outside but it gets really cold here and I'm afraid to put it outside. My house is like 60 degrees F most of the time and its like 20 degrees F outside. How often should I water it? It's really young little and some of the branches are a really light brown like they are dead but they still have green coming from them? Can you guys tell me if this okay and if it's healthy? I'm afraid it may be dying because of the bad care it got from the mall... Any tips for care? I always wanted a bonsai tree and am determined to have it live a long time.

Help with my bonsai tree?
I recently recieved a juniper bonsai as a gift and was reading into taking care of it. My question is the bonsai tree came with one long branch extending to one side of the tree about 5 6 inches while no branches anywhere else. I was wondering if i should or could trim this tree limb back a couple inches or what should I do so that the tree isnt uneven. Should I just leave it alone and let the branch grow? Also, how do I get other branches to grow? I live in pittsburgh and was planning on keeping it inside during the winter months.

How cold does it have to get for a juniper bonsai tree to go dormant?
I received a bonsai tree for christmas, and this is my second go round with bonsai trees. The first one i got was more of a test to see if i liked them. I didn't really look into the care of it much and it died. I did figure out that I really like them though, and someone gave me a juniper bonsai. Its probably 3.75'' 4.0'' tall, I'm not sure how old that would make it, but i know it came from a farm in texas. I live in southern Louisiana, and i know winters here don't really get cold.i read that in order for the juniper bonsai to continue to grow correctly, it needs to go through a dormant stage of about 6 weeks at least. and to activate that i would need to let it get cold enough to let it go dormant. My question is, Can i simulate this in order to keep it inside? and if not, does it get cold enough here to activate its dormant period? With the humidity and the constant urge for the weather to rain this winter, i would hate to put my new bonsai outside where it couldn't go dormant and have more issues with over watering or a bug infestation. Any advice to help my hopefully new hobby would be very much appreciated, even if its not about the dormant phase.

Help on Bonsai Tree health.?
I have a fairly young Juniper Bonsai tree roughly 5 years and this is the first year I am taking care of it myself. We brought it in for the winter season and it was doing well for a while. I am now noticing some of the wood is turning as black as the soil I have it in. It is not soil because I tried scraping it off and it did not work. What does this mean. Is my tree dying or diseased? This is the first time I ever tried to take care of a bonsai tree. If it is dying or diseased how do I help it?

What do I do with my Juniper Bonsai tree while I'm on a trip?

If any of you have knowledge on how to keep a healthy bonsai tree please help me out here I've looked online but they are too vague. Thank you and have a happy and healthy Christmas seasonJust realized I forgot some important details...the tree is a juniper bonsai and was not started from a box but rather bought from a garden center
